Magsimus uses a full three-dimensional solver for calculating magnetic systems. The solver minimizes the system free energy density through the solution of a system of coupled Landau-Lifschitz-Gilbert (LLG) equations. The user has the option of specifying  dynamic, static or quasi-static calculations. The following interaction field terms are accounted for in calculations:

Magnetostatic: Inter-component and (for arrays) self-demagnetizing interactions
Exchange: Inter-component and (for arrays) intra-component coupling
Single-component and array-cell shape anisotropy field
Magnetocrystalline (magnetic) anisotropy: Uniaxial and pinning
Slonzewski spin-torque effective fields
Other field sources: Externally-applied fields, electrical current fields, fields produced by 3-D magnetic shield components.
