Cellider makes available to the user a choice of shapes when operating in the shape-patterning mode. This list is expected to keep growing over time in newer revisions of the program. An illustration of the currently-selected shape and its data-input fields are displayed in the Shape inputs frame (to learn more, see the topic Cellider User Interface). Usually the meaning of the input fields of a shape is obvious from its illustration. Many shapes are characterized by a base plane input, which normally refers to the any of the coordinate planes u – v, u – w or v – w. Some shapes (for example a cone) provide an orientation input. This can take on either of the values forward or backward, which refers to the orientation of the shape relative to its base. The figure below illustrates differently oriented conical shapes.
